Military Paychart 2023 - Both the Biden administration's fiscal 2023 budget and the Democratic-controlled Congressional Defense Act, which underpins the defense budget, both propose a 4.6% increase in pay for members of the military in 2023 (up from 2.7% in 2022).
This has now been confirmed following the passage of the Omnibus Act 2023. The updated salary chart (see below) and the 11% housing allowance adjustment are detailed below.
Military Paychart 2023
While the 4.6% increase in base pay is the largest increase in nearly 20 years, it is still well below current inflation and the 2023 COLA. Government employees on the GS pay scale will receive a similar increase in 2023.

Below is a chart of military pay in 2023 based on a 4.6% increase. This pay scale applies to active duty members (officers and noncommissioned officers) of the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard.
This article shows the current and most recent basic pay grade years and provides them by grade (grades O, W and E) and length of service (over 20 years and under).
Military compensation, including base pay and allowances, is reviewed and adjusted for inflation annually by action of Congress (through the National Defense Authorization Act), and the President's recommendations are considered in the final decision.
The basic pay table does not include allowances such as Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) and Basic Allowance for Living Allowance (BAS) - both of which will increase by 11% in 2023. The record increase was to offset the costs of rising food prices and rental accommodation.

I will update the salary scale as needed once the final salary scale is published by the Defense Finance and Accounting Agency.
Higher pay levels will be reflected in armed forces pay after 1 January 2023 (13 January pay).
Congress has now passed the Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (FY22 NDAA), which authorizes a 2.7 percent pay increase for active duty members of the armed forces.
You can take a look at the final 2022 monthly basic pay chart (source: Ministry of Defence), which reflects a 2.7% increase from 1 January 2022.
Drill Pay Charts
[Updated after passage of National Defense Act] Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act of 2021 with a majority veto, confirming a 3.0% increase in military pay for 2021 in line with the latest COLA increase. The update table below shows years of service (greater and less than 20 years)
Military personnel and units under the National Defense Authorization Act of 2020 (NDAA). This is the largest increase since 2010. The updated basic pay scale reflects this general pay increase and will be effective from January 2020.
[Updated 2018] In President Trump's first year in office, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) authorized a 2.4 percent pay increase for military personnel and soldiers for fiscal year 2018. This was the largest year-over-year increase for service members since 2010. The updated base pay scale reflects the full pay increase from January 2018.
In contrast to the relatively large increase in military pay, the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) increased by only a modest 0.7 percent (or about $10 per month) in 2018. That amount is paid to nearly 1 million service members who live off U.S. bases.
Gs Pay Scale
[Updated 2017] After Congress broadly passed the National Defense Authorization Act, base pay for active duty members of the armed forces will increase by at least 2.1 percent in 2017.
Both the House and the Senate approved the bill, which will be approved by the president. The 2017 increase was 0.5 percent higher than the original 1.6 percent approved by the House earlier this year, due to faster private sector wage growth as economic conditions improved.
[Updated 2016 rates after 1.3% increase] With final consensus powers and presidential orders (ie, executive orders) likely to be reduced by the end of the year, members of our armed forces are expecting a 2016 base pay increase of 1 .3%.
That's less than expected, but at least it's better than nothing in a relatively benign inflationary environment. Any updates will be posted after DFAS releases (if any)
